my professor got some pics up on the rutgers website here are some:

--> this is me meeting my peer tutor - her name is vasaleesa (thats how we'd say it) but she told me i can call her Vasa

--> this is my and my friend Emily- we're sitting in the cafe in the university before classes

--> this is the group-- and take a look at the building behind us...i bet you'd never guess that i'd have classes in SUCH a beautiful building! its huge and so pretty. i love the color but its always so cold in there!
that's all the pictures i have now- but im trying to get my own internet working so i can FINALLY post for you guys! im sorry its taking so long :(
today we had our normal morning classes until 12:50 and then we went on an excursion to Menshikov Palace. its amazing that something so old is still there with many original artifacts in it. it wasnt like a spectacularlly beautiful building but it was interesting to see what was inside. i didnt take pictures inside because they charged you like 200 rubles (a little less than 10$) we were however able to take pics of one of the rooms free of charge so ill post them ASAP.
after our excursion we decided to walk over to nevsky prospect for dinner- it was POURING the whole time. i was soaking wet because i didnt bring my umbrella (zont) . why didnt i bring my umbrella? when i left the dorms this morning it was beautiful outside.. even warm! its a shame it was ruined by the rain.. oh well it was kinda fun weathering the storm :)
tonight for dinner i had something called a блины (blini) with ham and cheese inside. its like a really thin pancake with filling in it.. it was very tasty i also had a cappachino :) i have a pic so ya'll can see it so dont worry :) i'll always take pics of my food
oh another interesting fact:
-they sell beer at newspaper stations here. hilarious.
G. mom & g.pop - if you want to talk to me email me! its hard to respond to you through the blog cause i forget. my email is m-tomaszewski@hotmail.com
that also goes for anyone that wants to talk to me.. email or a phone call is the best way :)
i really look forward to reading your comments everyday :) so thanks even though i dont always respond to whats in them..
talk to ya tomorrow probably!
POKA! (bye!)

Don't worry about responding, we're just letting you know that we're keeping up with what you're doing! It's all so interesting! That building really is beautiful - and blue! It's so strange to see a blue building haha, but pretty! It looks like a castle.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've got yourself a good group there. I hope you're making a lot of friends - in the group and in Russia in general. I'm also lovin' the food updates. Christ knows that's all thats even on my mind, so, you know, the foods are always my favorite part of the updates aha!
Rain =( Is there anyway you can check the weather at the start of the day? A newspaper maybe? While you're picking it up you can have a beer! Sounds heavenly.
Charging to take pictures is crazy. Do they have guards around or something to make sure no one can take pictures? Can't wait for you to get more of your pictures up!! Your tutor looks nice. Hope you're learning a lot.
Miss and love you.

Michelle!!! I miss you. Boston is lovely, but also has been cold these past couple days. I hope you are having loads and fun and don't take it for granted! Learn all the Russian you can so you can come home and teach us. Looks beautiful can't wait to see all the millions of pictures you take.

Hey Shell,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun filled day. Put your umbrella in your back pac for emergencies. Sounds like the weather is NUTS there. I enjoyed hearing about your day!!! Your school is georgeous!! I can't believe the color. I was so happy to see pictures and your beautiful face. I needed that. Can't wait to see more. Your comments make me smile it is the highlight of every day. I read it to the girls everyday at work and then I read it at night and respond. It looks like I am you last comment of the day. I am very tired...
For my workout tonight I mowed the grass, front and back boy that was much but it looks good. Hey the orange lillies bloomed. I wish u were here to take a picture. Maybe I will ask Aunt Maureen to come snap one and send to you through e-mail. Had something crazy take place on the front lawn. A mommy bird dropped her babybird in the middle of the front lawn. Allie and Cody were trying to pounce on it and I was trying to protect it. Ifinally got the courage to pick it up and move it but had to chase Allie and cody before I could do it. The neighbors must think I am absolutely mad!! There has also been a birth on Lenore Court. We have a family of beazils in the back yard. LOL There is a bunch of them I couldn't believe my eyes they were climbing all over the wood pile when I went out the back door early this morning. It made me laugh and think of old times.
Work was busy again today. Couldn't wait to get home. Frank and Mark have been very busy with work, school and externship. We all got to have dinne together so I enjoyed that just missed you but that will come soon. Can you believe it has been a whole week already. I know that it feels long to you but time just flies. Frank and Mark are going to XTU this weekend and I think I am going to go to the beach for the day. Not feeling it this year. Well that's all for now I will be calling you on my lunch break today by the time you get this. I love you and miss you. Love the blog it is really helping me cope.
