da-dya doo-dyou doh-dyoh deh-dyeh dui-dee

OH MY GOODNESS!

alright i'll start with a recap from yesterday- we got to the university around 9ish to get our schedules.. turns out that they didnt have one for the people who have never studyed russian before ("welcome to russia" is what we were given as sympathy) so 4 or us sat around in the COLD university all day and was bored and what a waste lol

LAURA! your question about the weather:
its SO COLD HERE!!!!! we were told that at this time of year the average temp. is 70 so we all brought our spring/summer clothes.. what has the weather been like since we have been here? 40'S AND RAIN! i had to go buy a coat! haha but they say it will warm up i sure hope so bc this whole being cold thing all the time is pretty lame..

ill tell you what i did today..i woke up at 6:50 am got a shower & such and got on the bus to get to the university around 8:15 (the dorms are located on a different island - go figure?) it takes about a 35-40 min bus ride in the morning to get there and let me tell you that these russian drivers might be worse than NYC drivers. then i had class from 9:30-11:00 -> a break -> class from 11:20-12:50 -> a break -> class from 1:30-3:00 -> class from 3:10-4:30 ....... the first 3 are all russian language classes and the teachers instructs in both russian and english but mostly russian. today was my first day and BOY my headhurts fromm all of it and to think this is 4 days a week! thats so many hours of russian!

today i learned new words along with many other things..some words i learned are:
karta- map
tart - cake
glas- eye
etc, etc, but you have to remember russian is a different alphabet so its not so easy :)

ah well after classes i have about a mile walk to the nearest metro- so i got back in the area around 5:45 pm

tonight im going to make myself some pasta.. mmmmm.

i had an interesting meal last night i forget the russian name of it off the top of my head but its translated "chicken in kiev" it was a thing of fried chicken w. butter & garlic inside..and a side of mashed potatoes... this dish was delicious! dont worry i took a picture of it!!

ok i suppose thats enough for now
talk to you guys soon

  4. That cold!? Oh, no! We had a huge thunder storm around 8 this morning, so don't worry - the weather isn't too nice around here either.

Your schedule sounds so busy with all the classes and commuting. Actually, it's probably a lot like being at home, huh? Three classes dedicated to the language? Whoa. Ask them the word for hair dryer! The chicken with butter and garlic sounds so good.

I agree with Jess, you seem to be adjusting. So glad! Hope you have a lovely day today..or tomorrow whatever day it is in Russia haha. Miss and love your little Russian self!

  5. Good Evening my beautiful daughter, I miss you so much it is very weird being the only female in the house. I am out numbered!!! The boys both say hi. Frank said he left you a message on your facebook and Mark said he is going to e-mail you. I guess they are not into the blog even though I know Frank is reading it.

Imeant to ask you when I spoke to you today. Why all the language classes and how much homework are they giving you. sounds a bit over welming but I know if anyone can handle it that would be you.

Dad is playing catch up on the blog. He didn't know how it worked. I laughed when I spoke to him. Can't believe I figured it out before him LOL

Mark is getting into the whole football thing. Dropping weight like crazy so I need to pump up hi calorie intake!!!

Work was good today it is really busy, which is a good thing. I worked out to the Power sculp tonight. It never feels any easier. Whats up with that?? How was your run? I bet it is really weird going into that cold weather.

I updated g and gpop on you. G pop got a kick out of your blog. Keep it coming.

I meant to ask you something else. What about those wild dogs. I could never go out of the house if I lived in Russia. SCARY!!! Are they mean or just mangy mutts? Weird!!!

So what is your plans for the weekend? I bet you can't wait to have some free time. Hope to see some pictures soon. I know you are trying. Well thats all for now. Miss you and love you very much!!!!

    xoxoxox Mom!!:)

  7. M! I love how thats the way you sign off. haha
I've been wanting so bad to call you but I keep remembering that youre 8 hours ahead and that makes it hard, especially since you probably need all the sleep you can get with waking up so early for class! I hope youre having an amazing time despite the weather, that really sucks cause its so nice here! The guys have a beach house for a week starting Saturday and some of us girls are going down, I wish you could be here to come with us! Hope to hear from you soon.

    Love & Miss you, B <3
